We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at our center located in the vibrant Discovery District of downtown Columbus, Ohio. The Chef will play a key role in planning, preparing, and serving nutritious and delicious meals for children, staff, and families in our childcare facility.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and execute a rotating menu of breakfast, lunch, and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of children and comply with state licensing requirements and dietary guidelines.

- Prepare meals from scratch using fresh, high-quality ingredients, while accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies, and food preferences as needed.

- Ensure that meals are served in a timely manner and presented attractively, taking into account portion sizes, food safety standards, and sanitation protocols.

- Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, order ingredients as needed, and monitor food costs to stay within budgetary constraints.

- Supervise kitchen assistants and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety.

- Collaborate with administrative staff and teachers to coordinate meal schedules, special events, and celebrations, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are accommodated.

- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to stay current on nutrition guidelines, food safety regulations, and culinary trends.

- Adhere to health and safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and food handling procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary program preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Previous experience working as a chef or cook in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a childcare, school, or institutional setting.

- Knowledge of child nutrition guidelines, dietary requirements, and allergy management protocols.

- Strong culinary skills and creativity in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management and organizational skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with children, families, staff, and vendors.

- Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy objects, and perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, and reaching.

- ServSafe Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
